If you are here, it is quite probable you have surfed my website . Maybe you are a fan of my Facebook page and/or of my Instagram / Pinterest account. Maybe you have landed here because you googled something like “Fashion+Translation”…
Well, in any case I have two or three things to tell you before you start reading my blog:
#1.
I am Italian and Italian is my one and only mother tongue.
I am a Translator.
I can read, speak and write in English (and in French).
I do translate FROM English (and French) INTO Italian.
BUT: I do not translate FROM Italian INTO English.
Why?
A good professional translator always translates into her mother togue.
Since English is not my mother tongue, I do not make Italian to English translations myself. I assign them to my network of qualified native English speaking colleagues.
For what French is concerned, I do the translations myself, but I make them proofread by a French native translator – having lived, worked and studied in France for more than 6 years I can consider French my second language.
I have chosen to write this blog in English to allow a wider audience to read it and also because… English is the first foreign language I’ve ever loved!
#2.
This is the umpteenth blog about Fashion… I know this thought crossed your mind.
BUT: Even if my website is called “Parole di Moda” – which in Italian means both “Words of Fashion” and “Fashionable Words” –I am not a Fashion blogger.
To be honest, I would really like to be a sort of Garance Doré (I deeply admire her and I keep her book on my desk as a source of inspiration). But as I have already told you, I am a Translator.
My working field is the Luxury Industry. This is a wide sector. It encompasses Fashion, High Jewellery, High Watchmaking, Luxury Fragrances, Cosmetics, Lifestyle and other fascinating subsectors.

Here, I will tell you about this glamourous universe from my own perspective, which allows me to learn more and more about the most famous Maisons in the world but also about niche Luxury brands – where the very essence of Luxury is.
With me you will explore anything underlying and surrounding the different fields of the Luxury Industry.
In particular, here you will find: my reviews of exhibits, books, films and documentaries about Fashion and the other fields of the industry; news from the Luxury scene; my musings over anything in the Fashion system that arouses my curiosity and… much more!
