I charge a source-word* rate, i.e. to calculate the cost of your translation you only need to multiply my source-word rate by the number of words in your text. Hence, no surprise! On my invoice you will find the name of the project accompanied by the overall number of words (automatically counted by Microsoft Word and/or SDL Trados), the cost per-word and the total of the translation.
My rates are as follows
Proofreading and editing – between 0.03 and 0.05 euro/word* according to the language pair and text type (technical, editorial…)
Translation into one language with proofreading and delivery of the translated text exclusively in a Word/PPT/Excel format – 0.12 euro/word*
Translation into one or more languages with proofreading and delivery of the translated text in the original format, be it Word/PPT/Excel/PDF – between 0.14 and 0.15 euro/word according to the language pair and text type (technical, editorial…)
*Per source word count means that my rate is based on the number of words in the source text, that is to say the text you send me. So, if you know the number of words in the text you wish me to translate, you can already have some idea of how much you are going to spend to communicate attractively and effectively with your foreign clients.
If you are not able to determine the exact number of words in the source text, contact me. I will help you calculate and if the task proves impossible for me – e.g. non-editable PDF – I will suggest a target-word count or a rate per hour. In any case, we will talk things through.
